Colby Covington is setting his sights on the world of professional wrestling, with plans to transition to WWE in the near future. The former UFC welterweight title challenger has begun thinking about life after MMA and is determined to make a successful move into the entertainment business.
In a recent interview on his YouTube channel, Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) shared his ambitions of competing for WWE within the next couple of years. The 36-year-old fighter plans to start working on his in-ring wrestling skills and crowd-pleasing techniques, which he believes are crucial for making the move to pro wrestling.
“I would say probably in the next two years, I want to start working on my wrestling, my crowd interaction, and perfecting my craft for WWE,” Covington explained. “I might even head to Orlando and train at the WWE Performance Center to really sharpen my skills. My goal is to transition into WWE when the timing is right.”
Covington, who has experienced ups and downs in the UFC, is coming off a doctor stoppage TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley in December 2024. However, he remains confident in his ability to make a comeback and is eager to get back in the octagon with a full training camp.
“I’m looking to return in the next few months with a full 12-week training camp,” Covington said. “I’ve always been a company man, and now I want to ensure that I’m in peak condition to showcase my true skills in the cage and defeat any top contender.”
While Covington’s future in WWE looms, he is still actively participating in the UFC. He will be a part of Chael Sonnen’s coaching staff for the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he will share his expertise and experience with the fighters on the show.
