Jamahal Hill is excited about his upcoming fight against Khalil Rountree in the main event of UFC Kansas City, set for April 26 at the T-Mobile Center. With both fighters known for their explosive styles, fans can expect fireworks.
Rountree’s stock has never been higher after a gutsy showing against Alex Pereira at UFC 307. He started strong, taking the first two rounds, but ultimately fell short in the fourth via TKO. Now, he looks to bounce back against another former champion.
Hill, however, sees a clear path to victory. Speaking on the "On Paper With Anthony Smith" podcast, he expressed confidence in his ability to dominate the matchup.
“What I like about this fight is that Rountree’s a hot name right now,” Hill said. “People are backing him, and he’s put on some exciting fights. But I think my skill set is something he’s just not ready for. What I do well, I do at a level that he can’t match.”
Since capturing the UFC light heavyweight belt, Hill has endured a rough stretch. A torn Achilles forced him to vacate the title, and when he returned, Alex Pereira finished him at UFC 300. His most recent fight at UFC 311 ended in another stoppage loss, this time against Jiri Prochazka.
Now, Hill is focused on getting back on track—not just in the rankings but in his mindset.
“In my last fight, even though it didn’t go my way, I still had fun,” Hill said. “I enjoyed the process, and I don’t want to lose that again. After dealing with injuries and setbacks, I just want to fight, enjoy it, and get back to what made me love this sport.”
With both fighters possessing knockout power, UFC Kansas City’s main event has all the ingredients to be a thriller. Whether Hill re-establishes himself as a contender or Rountree continues his surge remains to be seen.
